Spring Orchid Expo 2025

Seventy years after our very first orchid show, we were proud to host the STOCQ Nambour Orchid Society Spring Orchid Expo 2025 – a vibrant celebration of colour, fragrance and floral artistry. Highlights included our stunning Dendrobium speciosum displays and over 500 benched orchids that amazed visitors and challenged our judges. Despite tough growing conditions this year, our exhibitors presented exceptional plants, while guest speakers, vendors and community groups added depth and diversity to the event.

Among the many standout entries, one orchid rose above the rest: Sue and Max Rawling’s Phal. Chian Xen Piano orchid, pictured below, which was crowned the Spring Orchid Expo 2025 Champion Orchid.

The show’s Reserve Champion prize went to John Robinson for his orchid, Paph. fanaticumn, pictured below.

The Champion Species and Australian Orchid prize was awarded to J. Kelly for his Den. speciosum, again pictured below.

Champion Specimen Orchid was awarded to S & P Jones for their orchid, Cym. Pee Wee, seen here below.

Finally, closing out the 2025 Show winners was the prize for Champion Foliage, which went to T Beenders for his NG. Rock Tassel Fern, pictured below.

The Palmwoods Arts and Crafts Group, our long-term partners, brought colour and charm to the show, as showcased by one of their magnificent creations (Druzilla), pictured below. We sincerely thank them for their valued participation and for providing a wonderful selection of merchandise and artwork that drew the attention and admiration of many visitors.

To all our exhibitors, thank you for your participation and for entering such outstanding plants. Congratulations to those who received Champion of the Show awards - a well-deserved recognition of your efforts.

A big thank you to all the societies that sponsored a class. Your support plays a vital role in recognising and rewarding the achievements of our growers. We’re also very grateful to the members from other clubs who stepped in to assist our volunteers - your help was truly appreciated.

We’re also proud to share that, thanks to the success of this year’s Expo, we were once again able to support Cittamani Hospice Service with a donation, a cause close to the hearts of many in our community.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this year’s Expo – and our 70th Anniversary Platinum Jubilee – such a memorable success.
